The tryout fee is based on the date all documentation (application form, payment and proof of residency for new MLAC players) is received.
Note: we are currently setting up the payment process for our 2026 tryouts. Indicate your preferred payment method when you fill out the registration form. MLAC will contact you to arrange payment once the payment process is established.
Complete your registration: Fill out the registration form and email it to mlacreg@proton.me
Boundaries: Ensure you reside within the proper zone by reviewing the Club Boundary Map and MLAC Communities draw.
Proof of residency: Only required for players who did not try out last season. New players must provide a current utility bill (EPCOR, Direct Energy, etc.)
Respect in Sport: At least one parent must hold a valid "Respect in Sport - Parent" certification. Log into your HCR profile to ensure your certification is active for the 2026-27 season.
Zone registration note: If you have registered with your local zone but want to try out for MLAC, you must submit the MLAC registration form to register for MLAC tryouts. MLAC is not affiliated with the local zones.

** U13AA EVALUATIONS WILL BEGIN AFTER THE U13AAA TOP 40 GAME
This season, MLAC will have the following teams:
U18: 1 AA team
U17: 1 AAA team
U16: 1 AA team (comprised exclusively of 15-year-olds)
U15: 1 AAA team & 2 AA teams
U13: 1 AAA team & 1 AA team
U11: 1 AA team
U17AAA Tryouts (Ages 15-16): Please select the U16-U17 age group during registration. Released 15-year-old players can either request a second tryout with another club or transfer directly to the MLAC U16AA team.
U18AAA Junior Oilers & Junior A Releases: Players trying out for Junior camps must still register for MLAC tryouts to secure a spot upon return.
** We highly recommend registering before June 30, 2026, to lock in earlybird pricing. If a player makes a Junior roster and does not return to MLAC, their tryout fee is refunded in full.
Standard Policy: All MLAC tryout fees are non-refundable, with exception for medical exemptions.
Medical Exemptions: Refunds (minus a $50 administration fee) are available for medical reasons only. A physician-signed medical note must be submitted to the Registrar before 12:00 AM on the first day of tryouts. No refunds will be issued after this time.
Team assignments: Players will be assigned a team for the first round of scrimmage games. Team lists will be posted on the MLAC website shortly before tryouts begin. No team switching is allowed.
Evaluation criteria: Coaching staff will evaluate players fairly and equitably based on skill, game knowledge and position. All coaching decisions are fully supported by the Maple Leaf Athletic Club.
Player Releases: Initial releases will occur after the third skate and will be posted on the MLAC website.
Elite player movement: Released players wishing to try out for another club can find Waiver and Notification-of-Tryout forms at aacouncil.com.
U15AA releases: Players released from U15AA may be invited to try out for another MLAC AA team, request entry into the AAA/AA Player Movement process (see Elite Council website), or return to their Federation (House) program.
