NEXT LAX MEETING Feb/2009 10:00

The Maple Leaf Ladies Auxiliary has been around for over 30 years, thanks in part to the tremendous dedication of its past and present members. The Ladies Auxiliary’s goal is to ensure that all players enjoy their hockey year both on and off the ice and ensure that many are recognized for their achievements.

To achieve this goal the Ladies Auxiliary have implemented many Recognition Programs. These programs are subsidized by 2 bingos during the year and the sale of tickets for a soap basket.
Each team is asked to provide 4-5 workers for one of the bingos and each parent is asked to sell 1 book of tickets.

The following is a list of recognition programs and awards that have been implemented for the 2009-2010 hockey season.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Each team’s coaching staff submits the name of the player they feel has demonstrated the “Never Give Up Attitude”. This player continuously shows team spirit and leadership both at games and practices. This player may not be the top goal scorer or playmaker but is the player who gives 110% every time and encourages their team to achieve their best. In order to recognize as many players as possible throughout the season each player can only receive this recognition award once during the season. Players winning this award will receive an embroidered MLAC t-shirt, card of recognition, their name will appear in their team's respective Webpage and game programs for the entire month. They will also be recognised by an announcement at their first home game of the month.

CITIZENSHIP AWARD
This award was implemented to recognize the outstanding contributions that many of our players make off the ice. Past winners have donated many hours to various programs such as, coaching little league, tutoring, school newspaper, community playground building, community fundraising events, working at food bank, & working with very young hockey players. Applications can be found on the MLAC website along with the criteria and should include as much information as possible along with letters of confirmation. A committee reviews applications that are submitted, and up to 4 winners will be announced at the annual MLAC awards banquet. Each winner will receive a Certificate of Recognition as well as a paid spot for the MLAC Conditioning Camp held each fall prior to the start of the season.

INJURED/SICK PLAYERS
There is probably nothing worse than being injured or sick and having to sit on the sidelines watching your team play. Unfortunately this is a fact of life for some of our players. The Ladies Auxiliary implemented the Injury/Sick t-shirt program some time ago so that even though the player may be sidelined he/she is made to feel very much part of the team. Any player who is injured or sick for 3 consecutive games will receive an Injury t-shirt and card.

M.L.A.C. ANNUAL BANQUET AWARDS
Aside from the citizenship awards given at the banquet the Ladies Auxiliary also recognizes all of the graduating midget players. Graduating midget players are those players who have played all of their bantam and midget years with the Maple Leaf Athletic Club. Past awards have been a glass plaque etched with the player’s name, years played and the MLAC logo as well as a MLAC pin.

Recognition is also given to those players who are no longer eligible to play with MLAC due to age but have not played all of their bantam or midget years with MLAC. Past awards for these players have been glass mugs engraved with their name and MLAC logo as well as MLAC pin.

At each year-end banquet the Ladies Auxiliary also provides 2 certificates for M.L.A.C. rings. One certificate is drawn amongst the Bantam players and one certificate is drawn amongst the Midget players.
